A Step Back in Time...

While visiting in Boone this past week end we stopped in Mast General Store. It is like a step back in time. The porch has a swing and rocking chairs that you are welcome to sit in and sip your soda, sold in glass bottles.

They have any thing on earth you could imagine, grocery's, kitchen ware, footwear, toys, clothing such as wool shirts, Carhartt, sleep wear, leather belts, cookbooks, oil lamps, wind chimes, the largest selection of Burt's Bee's I have ever seen and much more.

But as I stepped into the door this is what I saw:

A drink machine just like Pappaw Rob's! and sitting behind it was an ice cream machine just like Pappaw Rob's. I immediately went and opened the lid, stuck my head in and tried to smell that smell of cold metal and glass, but my stuffy nose prevented me from smelling that smell that only comes for those drink machines. The smell that makes you just want to crawl in the box with the drink bottles.

For me it was a destination back in time...
