Thankful

Don't get me wrong here, I am very thankful to my Lord above that my little twins were not standing here looking at the 20 some bikes that were on a trailer hooked to the Suburban, when this limb fell, but have I ever told you how much I love this truck? I do. I love this thing. I had rather drive or ride in it than any of the other rides that live at the Knoll. And for those of you that don't know that is a LOT. No actually I mean a "used car lot". K feels this need to hoard cars, which he will admit to, but that is another story.
So anyway we had just got done with Sunday lunch, G man went out to play in the sand box, J was playing on the computer. I was messing in the kitchen. When I heard this noise. Lots of snapping and popping. G comes running to the back door and says "there is a tree fallen on the truck!" So we all go outside, I said some not so nice things under by breath when I realized how much damage there actually was. When I saw it from the back porch, I had hopes that it would just be a little dent. But I am also the person that closed my eyes as my brand new 1987 Camaro t-boned a Mercedes SL and before I opened them I thought it is just a little body damage. K's friend can fix it with no problem at all. I opened my eyes and could not see what I had hit 'cause the hood was doubled up as high as the wind shield. Six months, 30 hours on the frame machine and $9000 later my beloved car was still not as it had been. As I got closer to the truck yesterday I realized that it needs a hood, a grill, and some paint on the fender and the little plastic thing the head lights sit in. But no head light, it still works! As you can see from the picture it did rip the rubber strip off the bumper. There was also a log about 2 feet long and about 6 inches in diameter on the roof. I think it must have landed on the luggage rack or there would have been a dent in it also.
So in the end, we have insurance with a $250 deductible, it didn't hit the dog lot, or the borrowed trailer, or any of the bikes that were on the trailer, and most importantly my Cracker Jack was far away safe in his sand box. Now where is Stanley and his bull dozier? He told me I should have that tree taken down.
The bikes on the trailer belonged to the boys in B's scout troop, they went for a 10 mile hike yesterday, K was to meet them at the end point and the boys were going to ride their bikes back to the starting point. It took them 5 hours to do the hike! He did not get home until 10:00 p.m. B told me this morning that he didn't even want to get on his bike. Now that is when I started thinking that he might need to stay home from school. I am just waiting for the phone to ring. I gave him a Motrin and a caffeinated drink for breakfast.
Better go listen for the phone...Happy Monday!

OUCH!! What a day will bring, huh? Good thing you have good connections to a good body shop!

Hmmm. You sheep do live adventurous lives. Sorry to see about the truck. I have a friend who works in a body shop too. He says he would never have one of his vehicles taken there though... strange I know. Glad everyone is okay, except for B's tired and sore legs.
