Camping #2

It has been a weekend filled with lots of note worthy events. We went on our second camping trip, after fighting mother nature, when she decided to play that really mean trick on us and demolish the front end of my truck. We had a hard time deciding on where to go camping. We came home early to celebrate mothers day and so that B could take part in the confirmation service during Sunday morning worship time.

So for our second family camping adventure, we ended up at Hanging Rock State Park. It has no water or electrical hook ups, so we were roughing it a bit more than last time. We did have a water faucet right across from our camp site, that was nice. We arrived Friday about 6 P.M. Set up the camper, cooked hot dogs and corn on the cob again for supper. [put water in my pots to boil while eating this time and it worked like a charm Judy, thanks for the tip!] Then Ben and Kenny worked on getting a camp fire going, after much labor over the fire ring we finally had a nice little flame going. J and G went to set by the fire to "read" and grew bored and promptly but the fire out. By this time we had used up all the matches and the fluid in our lighter, so no more camp fire. Only my children could put out a flaming camp fire. We finally turned in about 10:30 or there abouts. The temperature was very pleasant. We did see some lightening very far off and heard some thunder, but none ever came close to us. Saturday morning after a breakfast of sausage links and cinnamon rolls cooked in the dutch oven over charcoal we went for a short walk around the camping area. The boys were able to take their bikes this time, and they were very excited about that. They pretty much stayed on their bikes all the time. We then came back fixed a sandwich for lunch and started packing. The people were much more friendly than at the private campgound that we stayed at before. There were lots of young families with really young kids and even young couples camping in tents.

Now the amazing part of this whole story is that we did not board Rosey. We took her with us.
Dogs were required to be on a leash at all times. She did really well for the dog who has "social issues" She did not bit anyone, she did get mad a few times when the boys would ride off on their bikes with out her. She also got mad one time when a man was jogging past our camp site. She for the most part ignored all the walkers and even the walkers that had dog on leashes.

We headed home Saturday afternoon. Camping in a state park, not bad, did miss not having a light in the camper on Friday night, maybe next time we can have a battery in the camper. And more matches!
