OK, so I try not to discourage J from having snakes as his favorite animal, even though when I see him reading about them, I think I couldn't read about those things before bed time! One night we had to watch a TV show about snakes just before bed time and I dreamed about the stupid things being in my house! And we will not even talk about the one little black plastic snake that looks so real laying in the hall! Also sometimes it is not good to have all the information that is stored in that little brain about snakes. On moring a couple of weeks ago as we were leaving for school he sees the box of worms that we had purchased that weekend to fish with and he says "Oh no that is not good, I hope the worms did not crawl out, because sometimes you know they get worm snakes mixed up and put them in those boxes and then we would have worm snakes in our basement. But most of the time you can tell the difference because worm snakes are more pink." Well that set my mind to ease just don't pick up a "pink worm"! I have even became used to him "bearing his fangs and hissing like a snake". Until yesterday.
I went for a walk to the big field. I was feeling a little spunky so I decided to head out across the field, after all it had just been mowed this week. I had on my bright white shorts so off I went. After making my round of the edge of the field I come back down off the field toward the road, right alone the tree line closest to my neighbors house and I hear what I think is J standing in the road making his snake hissing noise.
I look up and do not see J.
I then proceed to all but pee in my white shorts!
As I see a white tail (deer) bumping away.
I do not know how close I was to it, but must have been pretty close to have made it that mad... don't you think?
