Leatherheads, the movie

In celebration of the movie Leatherheads being released just yesterday I decided to post some of the photos I have from the filming of the movie.

One day in March 2007, I came home from working all day at the church and found a letter stuck in the wood work of the mail box, not in a mail box. The letter tells of how they are going to be filming a scene from this movie at the end of our "dead end " road. It talks of how residents will be allowed to pass, as will buses and other delivery trucks. I must admit I was a bit put out. I got home and googled the name of the movie and learned that it was about the early days of pro football. However the interesting thing was that it was to be directed by George Clooney. Now George (I can call him George cause he has waved at me and that is sort of like on a personal level don't you think?) has been one of my favorite actors since he was on ER.

So anyway, on the day of the filming, the boys were on spring break from school so we walked down to the road and stand along side of the road with all the other 50 or so people gathered to watch the most exciting thing that has happened in Donnaha since the Courthouse blew down in the 1800's. We just stood there for what seemed like forever watching the train pull the antique cars back and forth. Finally the train stopped and poeple started getting off the train. I think most people had just about given up on seeing George, but finally a fimilar face stepped off the train. I realized that this was the face I had been looking for, I smiled and waved, and he waved back. I turned around to the poeple in the crowd and realized they were looking up the road at something else. I said "Hey, there he is!" So then they all started waving at him. He was very polite, I was quite impressed that he would even take the time to wave a people standing accross the street, but he did. I also know a lot of people do not like him for political reasons, but isn't the greatest commandment according to Jesus to love your neighbor?

There was also a lot more happenings that day, like the "world famous" lemon ade stand that George Clooney paid $20 for a cup of lemon ade, made from a mix from Food Lion. But what I have shared are the good memories of that day for me. Some of the above photos were made by a friend of mine, Lori Justice. I have some that I made some that B made and they are all mixed up now.
I have not got to see the movie yet but I hear that it is pretty good, so if you have the time go see it and let me know what you think. Cindy
